2023 Ford Fiesta: New Mini Mustang Electric Car

2023 Ford Fiesta – Ford will again make its next electric car and arrive in two years and be built at the Cologne plant.

The plant will be the Ford Cologne Electrification Center – a specialized electric car manufacturing site that will produce two Ford electric cars explicitly developed for the European market and probably spread to America.

The first vehicle to be built at the new Cologne site will be based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric car platform.

Following the announcement in 2019, Ford had signed a deal to use VW technology. It will likely take the form of a small SUV – incorporating design inspiration from a new electric performance SUV – the Mustang Mach-E – and becoming the third member in the ever-growing Mustang family.

The first MEB cars to be launched were the Volkswagen ID.3, and the new Ford was expected to have the same proportions as that car but with a body style more like a crossover.

That’s the route Ford takes with the new Mustang Mach-E, and it’s hoped Ford will take a similar approach to the new ‘Mini-mustang,’ shown in our exclusive image.

The ID.3 VW has a length of 4,261mm, placing it between Ford’s Fiesta and Focus in size and very close to the 4,186mm Puma SUV.

Although the platform is modular and can be extended or shortened with different battery options, it is expected that Ford’s new EV will be the same size, allowing free space between it and the 4,713mm-long Mustang Mach-E.

However, the ‘Mini Mustang’ interior space is likely to be larger than the Focus and closer to the Mondeo.

Using VW Group’s MEB skateboarding platform for their new EV means Ford will also have to use the same battery technology – which likely means choosing a 58kWh battery with a 201bhp or 143bhp power output a 77kWh battery also with 201bhp, but with a more extended range.

To compete with other MEB models and their competitors, the Baby Ford EV must offer a range between 250 and 350 miles. Fast charging will also be provided at an expected 80 percent charge within more than half an hour.

2023 Ford Fiesta Release date and Price

When the new EV is released in 2023, we expect it to be positioned below the Mach-E Mustang, meaning a price range from under £30,000 to over £40,000.

2023 Ford Fiesta Facelift

The prototype is an Active pseudo-crossover model featuring an elevated ride height and wheel arch guards.

Compared to the current Fiesta, this facelifted model will have a redesigned front bumper, although the one installed on this car appears to be a temporary unit.

There will also be new headlight graphics and an updated grille design. While this car does not display any changes on the back that we can see, this update may appear in future test vehicles.

Unfortunately, these photos don’t reveal much about the interior of the Fiesta, which will likely feature the usual trim and color.

The revised model may feature Ford’s latest Sync 4 infotainment system, although the touchscreen on the dashboard looks to be the same size as the current unit.

In Australia, the Fiesta generation is currently only sold in hot ST form with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 147kW and 290Nm.

As an advantage for fans but likely to hurt sales Down Under, the ST is only available with a six-speed manual transmission.

Fiesta is a low-cost vehicle. Subtlety is the name of the game. It seems that not much has changed on the back for this model, but there seems to be some change on the front, which obviously, will be shared throughout the Fiesta lineup as the Active is nothing more than a 5-door version with little difference. Cladding here and there to make it look harder.

The headlights look softly enhanced, as does the grille, although it’s hidden under most camouflage. Naturally, this becomes a mid-cycle refresher.

The overall shape of the vehicle does not change much. But that’s fine because the Fiesta series (both regular and Active) is Britain’s favorite new car.

Powertrains are also expected to remain essentially unchanged. The Fiesta’s three-cylinder engine range (and I4 types of diesel for some markets) have been designed to meet Europe’s most advanced emission standards, so they don’t require too much polishing.

Interestingly, Ford is expected to update the Fiesta ST with this facelift. With new competitors like the GR Yaris stealing the limelight, Ford is sure to want to take back some of the public’s attention. You probably shouldn’t expect innovative change.

Ford should reveal the updated Fiesta before the end of this year and sell it for the 2022 or 2023 model years.
