2025 Lexus NX450h+: A Plug-In Hybrid SUV With Style And Performances

2025 Lexus NX450h+

The Lexus NX450h+ has been a standout model in the Lexus lineup for its luxury, performance, and eco-friendly features.

As we look ahead to 2025, it’s clear that the NX450h+ will continue to be a leader in its class, building on the successes of previous models while introducing innovations.

The 2025 Lexus NX450h+ is expected to maintain the smooth and comfortable ride that has become synonymous with the brand.

The vehicle’s handling is designed to minimize body roll in corners, providing a relaxing driving experience.

The BMW X3 might be a better fit for those seeking a sportier drive, but for drivers who prefer a more laid-back journey, the NX450h+ is the ideal choice.

One of the key features of the NX450h+ is its selection of drive modes. Drivers can choose from EV mode, AUTO EV/HEV mode, HEV mode, and Self-charge mode.

In EV mode, the vehicle runs solely on battery power, allowing up to 37 miles of zero-emission driving. This makes the NX450h+ an excellent choice for short commutes or city driving.

The NX450h+ also boasts impressive fuel economy, achieving 36 mpg in city/highway driving. This efficiency comes at something other than the expense of power, however. The vehicle still delivers a robust performance, making it a practical and enjoyable choice for all drivers.

In terms of technology, the NX450h+ is packed with advanced features. The Lexus Interface multimedia system offers a seamless integration of technology and convenience, with a standard 9.8-inch touchscreen and optional 14-inch screen.

The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a voice assistant, and an available digital key.

Safety is another area where the NX450h+ shines. The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 comes standard, offering features like a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and Road Sign Assist.

These features provide an extra layer of protection for drivers and passengers, helping to prevent accidents before they happen.

The 2025 Lexus NX450h+ is also expected to offer various customization options. Exterior color choices include Eminent White, Atomic Silver, Cloudburst Gray, Caviar, Redline, Cadmium Orange, Nori Green Pearl, and Grecian Water.

Drivers can choose from interior seat and console colors like Black, Black with Rich Cream, Palomino, and Rioja Red NuLuxe trim.

The interior is slightly airy, although small windows detract from that impression. Typical Lexus, all interior touches, starting from the leather steering wheel, have a quality feel.

Lexus has finally moved away from the remote touchpad infotainment interface, and the new NX has a touchscreen instead.

Bulky at 14.0 inches (a 9.8-inch version appears on smaller trims), the screen looks good, but despite all its real estate, it can display two functions at once only when the smartphone is mirroring.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are wireless, and Apple Music and Amazon Music are integrated into the system. Wireless smartphone charging is an option and is paired with digital lock functionality.

Powertrain

The new plug-in-hybrid powertrain combines a naturally aspirated base engine, a turbocharged top-tier engine, and a regular hybrid. They are all four-cylinder. With 302 horsepower, the NX450h+ plug-in is superior to its brethren.

The powertrain is lifted from the Toyota RAV4 Prime. It uses a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as in the base NX250 and the standard hybrid, the NX350h.

The electric motor assists the gasoline engine and is the only drive source for the rear wheels, providing all-wheel drive capability.

An 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers the motor. The large battery delivered an EV range of 37 miles, according to the EPA—or 33 miles on the highway in our tests (the same as the RAV4 Prime).

This class’s only other plug-in hybrids are the XC60 T8 Recharge, Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring, and Audi Q5 55 TFSI e.

Volvo is getting a larger battery pack in 2022 that increases its range to 35 miles, but the Lincoln is only capable of 28 miles, and the Audi is just 23 miles.

2025 Lexus NX450h+ Price

While pricing details for the 2025 model have not yet been released, the 2023 Lexus NX started at $38,605, with the range-topping plug-in hybrid NX 450h+ starting at $57,705.

Given the consistent improvements and additions to the model over the years, it’s reasonable to expect a slight increase in price for the 2025 model.
